Dear Parish Family,
Happy Father's Day! Fathers are a blessing to our families and to our society, whether they are our earthly fathers, foster fathers, or priestly fathers. Think of St. Joseph whom God called to guide and protect Mary during her pregnancy and during Jesus' early years. His tender and compassionate leadership are the hallmarks of his sainthood. May we thank and encourage our fathers this week for their commitment to lead, pray, and love those whom God has entrusted to them.
We have our follow-up appeal for Catholic Charities this weekend. Thank you to those who have already made their appeal pledge this year, and I encourage those who may have missed the opportunity to make an appeal pledge back in February to do so this weekend. All donations from this follow-up appeal will support the "Help Me Grow" program which provides home support, education, and essential items like diapers and formula to new parents throughout our diocese. Thank you for your generosity!
The new St. Mary rectory is progressing nicely. The LVP floors are installed as well as cabinetry. If you want monthly updates with photos of the new rectory, please visit https://stmarychardon.org/new-rectory-project to sign up for the monthly newsletter and to see past editions of the newsletter tracking the progress. There's still time to make a memorial or honorary Prayer Plaque donation. We're closing this opportunity after June 30, so pick up information in the back of church if you are interested in making a donation which will help cover ancillary rectory costs (like furnishings and landscaping) as well as future capital needs at the parish. Thank you for your support!
Next weekend is our Eucharistic Procession. We will gather for the 12 pm St. Mary's Mass that day, and have a procession through the Chardon Square with rosary prayers said along the way. Eucharistic Processions are great ways to honor our Lord and give public witness to our faith in Jesus' risen and Eucharistic presence in our community. If weather will not permit an outdoor procession, we will do a shortened procession through the church. A time of adoration will follow the procession until 2:30 pm when we will end with Benediction. If you are unable to walk the procession, you can meet near the Chardon Square gazebo where we will pause for a blessing for all gathered. May the Lord Jesus bless and support us and all people of good will in our communities who love Him and desire to do His will!
I am yours in Christ,
Fr. Scott Goodfellow
