Dear Parish Family,
The next three Sundays of Lent we will hear from the "Scrutiny" Gospels. These readings help us 'scrutinize' our lives in the light of God's redeeming love. While God's love is always merciful and tender, it is also challenging as it calls us to give up old sinful ways and enter into newness of life. Knowing we are being scrutinized doesn't feel good, yet when the Spirit of God scrutinizes our lives it always comes from a right judgment and assessment of our actions, and is always in the interest of healing the wounds of sin in our lives.
CCAA Thank You
Thank you to all who participated in the Catholic Charities Annual Appeal last weekend! Your sacrificial contribution will help the mission of the Church as we work to fund and administer the spiritual and corporal works of mercy to over 400,000 people in our diocese in the coming year. If you did not get the opportunity to donate, please pick up an appeal envelope in the back of church and return it during parish office hours, or in the collection basket at Mass. You can also donate online at https://www.ccdocle.org/
Combined Communal Penance at St. Gabriel Parish
If you need confession this Lent, please come to St. Gabriel Parish on Monday, March 11 at 7:00 PM. We will have a Communal Penance Service with a communal Liturgy of the Word service, Examination of Conscience, and the opportunity for individual confessions with a priest. Fr. Fabian and I will be there along with a number of other priests from our region. St. Gabriel Parish is located at 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Rd, Concord, OH 44077.
Builder Selected for New St. Mary Rectory
I am excited to announce that Payne & Payne has been chosen as our builder for the new St. Mary rectory. Over the coming months, I will be working with our Rectory Building Committee, the Diocese of Cleveland, and Payne & Payne for site surveying, design options, and finalizing costs and construction agreements. The new rectory will be built on the southeast plot of land where the old convent used to be, on the corner of North St. and the south school drive. I will continue to provide updates as this construction project develops over the coming months. Visit https://stmarychardon.
St. Patrick Patronal Feast Dinner
Celebrate our patronal feast day on Saturday, March 16! We will celebrate our Vigil Mass at 4 pm with a corned beef and cabbage dinner at 5 pm in the lower hall. Last year's event was a lot of fun, and I hope many of you can make it again or for the first time this year! Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for children 6-12, and children under 6 eat for free! Please sign up in the back of church so we know how much food to prepare. You can pay ahead of time or at the door. May the blessing, prayers, and faith of St. Patrick be with us now and always!
I am yours in Christ,
Fr. Scott Goodfellow
