Dear Parish Family,
We had a professor at the seminary who would always tell us, “Everybody has something to bring to the party.” He was talking about the presence of the Holy Spirit dwelling in all of us so that each of us always has something to offer. We see a similar theme in our Second Reading this weekend when we hear St. Paul say, “For the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable.” God has given gifts to each and every one of us, and these gifts are unable to be diminished. All of us have been bestowed with gifts, and it is our job to cultivate them and use them well. When we all use the gifts that God has given up, we work together to build up the Kingdom of God here on Earth.
It’s that time of year to welcome back all the students and teachers as we embark on another school year! Certainly, there is no shortage of gifts present in the students, teachers, and faculty. God has given all of them gifts to use this year to make St. Mary School a happier and holier place. It is always tough to close the book on summer break, but there is great excitement and anticipation to starting another year. May we all ask God how He is inviting us to use the irrevocable gifts we have been given. Using these gifts will build up the school community and beyond to be better followers of Jesus Christ.
Peace,
Fr. Sean Neville
